Day 12 Valletta 5 Mosta 0

Valletta vs Mosta

Champions Valletta breezed to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Mosta to go second in the BOV Premier League standings.

It was a commanding performance from the Malta champions who looked a class apart from the struggling Mosta who struggled to create any danger to their more-quoted opponents.

Valletta took the lead on 14 minutes when Hamza Barry picked Shaun Bajada just outside the area and the Valletta midfielder hit a swerving shot that flew into the top corner of the net.

Valletta doubled their lead. Hugo Faria picked Lateef Elford-Alliyu deep into the right channel and the City forward sent a low cross towards Roderick Briffa who poked the ball home from close in.

Valletta all but wrapped up the points on 38 minutes when from a Bajada corner-kick, Ian Azzopardi nodded the ball into the path of Elford-Alliyu who had little difficulty to stab the ball into the net.

Valletta added a fourth goal on 70 minutes. Faria picked up a short clearance on the edge of the area and hit a rasping drive that Borg could only push into the path of Abdelkerim Nafti who blasted the ball into the net.

Valletta hit their fifth a minute from time when Montebello was first to reach Nafti’s cross with the City striker doing just enough to push the ball into the net.

Valletta midfielder Shaun Bajada was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
