UBet FA Trophy – Valletta 3 Mosta 0

FA Trophy Valletta Mosta

Valletta booked their place in the quarter-finals of the U*Bet FA Trophy when they had the better of Mosta 3-0 at the Tedesco Stadium.

The Citizens dominated play for long stretches in the first half but they struggled to break down a resolute Mosta defence.

But after the break they stepped up their game and managed to take the lead on 55 minutes. Aziz Corr Nyang set up Abdelkerim Nafti with a deft touch and the

Tunisian midfielder cooly slotted the ball past the onrushing Omar Borg. Mosta were stunned and the Citizens went on to kill off the tie as a contest with a second goal on 66 minutes. Valletta were awarded a corner kick and Nafti’s cross was inadvertently headed into his own net by Mosta midfielder Ekani Rodriguez.

Valletta added a third goal in stoppage time when substitute Edmond Agius’s shot was pushed away by Borg and from the rebound Lateef Elford-Alliyu turned past a Mosta defender to hit the ball into the net.
