Yuri Messias first arrived in Malta in 2013, signing with Mosta FC.
Over the following years, he went on to play for Msida St Joseph, Naxxar Lions, and Nadur Youngsters. In 2017, he was on the verge of joining Valletta FC, but a last-minute change of plans saw him head to the Middle East to sign with Saudi Arabian club Al-Jabalain instead.
Messias eventually joined Valletta in the summer of 2019, making ten appearances and scoring twice. However, he didn’t complete the full campaign with the capital side, returning to Brazil in February 2020 to join Frederiquense.
That summer, Messias returned to Maltese football, signing with Gudja United. He enjoyed a standout season, netting 13 goals in just 14 appearances. His form earned him another opportunity in the Middle East, this time with Qatari side East Riffa.
Despite the move, he struggled to settle in Qatar and soon returned to Malta, joining Gżira United. There, he made 17 appearances, scoring six goals and contributing seven assists.
After a brief stint in Japan with Tiamo Hirakata, Messias was back in Malta once more at the start of the 2023–24 season, this time with Marsaxlokk. He played a key role in helping the club secure a third-place finish in the Premier League and a return to European competition.
During his two seasons with the Southerners, he featured in 63 matches, scoring 29 goals and providing 19 assists.
