Day 9 Valletta 4 Rabat A. 1

Valletta FC Badge

Valletta made it three wins in a row when they eased past bottom-placed Rabat Ajax 4-1 at the Tedesco Stadium.

Valletta forged ahead on 12 minutes when Abdelkerim Nafti sent a precise cross towards Denni and the Brazilian showed great composure to hammer his volley into the net.

Despite their territorial dominance, Valletta had to wait until the 65th minute to double their lead.

Denni picked possession some 20 metres out and let fly a rasping drive that flew into the net.

Rabat however, refused to throw in the towel and they managed to pull a goal back on 75 minutes when Jonathan Bajada crossed the ball towards Moises Avila-Perez who beat Yenz Cini from close in.

But any hopes of a Rabat comeback were ended nine minutes from time when Denni released Edmund Agius who sped in the area and hit the ball past Pavle Velimirovic.

Valletta sealed the points with a fourth goal in time added on when substitute Ian Zammit picked Nafti and the Tunisian sent a dispping header into the back of the net.

Valletta’s Denni Rocha Dos Santos was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
