Day 14 Valletta 1 Mosta 0

Valletta vs Mosta

After last week’s defeat to Gżira United, Valletta bounced back to winning ways as they overcame a resilient Mosta side courtesy of an early Denni’s goal to lift them just one point behind leaders Balzan.

Valletta went all guns blazing from the start, seeking an early lead which would enable them to dictate the game.

Three minutes into the game, Raed Salah failed to connect on an inviting cross of Joseph Zerafa but moments later, the Citizens broke the deadlock.

Zerafa dispossessed Zac Brincat and notched the ball towards Matteo Piciollo.

The former Floriana striker then dropped the ball on Denni’s feet and the Brazilian hit a first-timer which deceived Andreas Vella after being deflected by Mosta’s back line.

In the closing stages of the game, Mosta moved beyond their tactical plan as they pushed most their men forward in an attempt to snatch a late point.

However, Valletta’s determination to chalk up the win proved vital in order to keep track of pacesetters Balzan.
