28/06/2025

Valletta Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Alessandro Piscina, a coach with experience in Italian elite youth football, as Head Coach of the Club’s Competitive Teams and the Gen V Programme.
A UEFA A license holder from Coverciano, Mr Piscina brings a wealth of experience in the youth development sector having been a key figure in the youth ranks of Pisa Sporting Club for five seasons (where he served both as a head coach in both U19 and U17 youth setups) and as a mentor in elite youth development. In his coaching formation process, Mr Piscina had also a training experience in Milanello with the U17 of AC Milan, through which he was exposed to the Club’s youth development methodologies. Most recently, he has also served as a coach educator within the Italian Football Federation FIGC, delivering lectures to the prospective coaches at entry-level in the coaching system.
His coaching philosophy aligns perfectly with the Valletta FC vision: attacking football, intelligent systems, and a deep commitment to player development both on and off the pitch.
Claudio Grech, President of Valletta FC, commented:
“This is a key appointment in the next step for Valletta FC. Mr Piscina’s track record in elite youth football and his technical credentials speak for themselves. But more than that, he brings a human touch, a deep tactical mind, passion and a proven ability to guide young athletes into the professional game. His appointment confirms our unwavering commitment to making Valletta FC the leading force in youth and competitive football development through our Gen V Programme.”
Alessandro Piscina, speaking after his appointment, said:
“I am honoured to be joining Valletta FC and excited by the vision and ambition shown by the Club. The Gen V Programme is a bold and forward-looking project, and I believe Malta has the talent and spirit to make real impact internationally. My goal is to help every player become not just a better footballer, but also a better person. I can’t wait to get started.”
Mr Piscina will begin his work in Valletta immediately and will be directly responsible for the Youths (U21) team and will oversee the development of all competitive squads, in synergy with Valletta FC’s technical leadership under the stewardship of Head Coach Thane Micallef and his Assistants Warren Said and Matthew Psaila.
This appointment marks another key step in Valletta FC’s transformation into the benchmark for youth football development, backed by the values of integrity, ambition, and professionalism.
