Valletta FC and Caritas Malta Take #BounceBack Initiative to the Next Level

Club to donate all net gate proceeds from Valletta vs Gżira match and hold second edition of Caritas Cup.
Valletta FC and Fondazzjoni Caritas Malta are proud to announce the continuation and expansion of their landmark collaboration launched in 2024 under the theme #BounceBack, aimed at supporting individuals on their journey of rehabilitation and recovery from substance abuse.
Following the overwhelming success and national recognition of last year’s initiative, Valletta FC is deepening its commitment to Caritas Malta with two powerful actions, reaffirming the shared belief that sport can be a beacon of hope and renewal.
In conjunction with the annual Caritas Telethon, all net gate proceeds from Valletta FC’s high-profile match against Gżira United—a crucial fixture in the league’s opening round—will be donated to Caritas Malta. This gesture underlines the Club’s resolve to make its platform a force for good, supporting those facing the daily challenges of recovery.
In addition, in November, the Club will be holding the second edition of the Caritas Cup, a triangular tournament featuring Valletta FC, a Premier League club and a Challenge League club. The tournament will serve as a visible demonstration of solidarity with those in rehabilitation, with all proceeds also directed to Caritas.
President of Valletta FC, Claudio Grech, stated:
“We’re not simply running a fundraiser — we are shaping a movement in which football has a purpose. A message to every person battling addiction that they are not alone. Football can help them bounce back, and Valletta FC stands beside them.”
Anthony Gatt, Director of Caritas Malta, welcomed the initiative, saying:
“Last year was groundbreaking, and this year Valletta FC has elevated it even further. This is what authentic community partnership looks like: sustained, visible, and driven by values. We are deeply grateful for the steadfast commitment of Valletta Football Club toward the cause. Equally grateful for the dedication of the President Claudio Grech and all the committee who truly set a strong example to others of how to integrate sport, altruism and social engagement.”
The campaign continues to feature Caritas branding on the Club’s kits and media channels, alongside special awareness programmes for youths and ongoing Football for Recovery initiatives within the Academy. Together, Valletta FC and Caritas Malta are proving that football isn’t just a game — it’s a platform for second chances.
