UEFA Youth League 2nd Leg: Valletta 0 Auxerre 2
07/11/2024
In their UEFA Youth League 2024/25 matchup, Valletta fell to a well-drilled AJ Auxerre side, with the visitors securing a 2-0 victory. Valletta’s defense was put to the test as Auxerre capitalized on two well-executed plays.
The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Ben Viadere expertly timed his run to beat Valletta’s offside trap. With only the goalkeeper to beat, Viadere calmly slotted the ball into the net, putting Auxerre up 1-0. Valletta attempted to regroup and build up attacks, but Auxerre’s disciplined backline limited their offensive chances.
In the second half, Valletta continued to search for an equalizer, but in the 61st minute, Auxerre struck again. Zaid Seha delivered a precise cross into the box, finding Rayan Rodin, who headed it in from close range to double Auxerre’s lead at 2-0. Valletta fought hard in the remaining minutes but couldn’t find a way through Auxerre’s solid defense.
