In a closely contested Maltese Premier League encounter, Tarxien Rainbows secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Valletta FC, courtesy of a second-half goal from Claudio Henrique Da Silva Barbosa in the 65th minute. The defeat came as a blow to Valletta, who entered the match hoping to continue their positive form but struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
The first half saw both teams creating half-chances but failing to convert, with Valletta’s midfield, including Brandon Paiber, attempting to control the tempo. Tarxien, however, remained resilient in defense and occasionally threatened on the counter.
In the 65th minute, Claudio Murici broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. After a well-executed build-up, Barbosa found himself in space and struck a low shot past the Valletta keeper, giving Tarxien a deserved lead. Valletta pressed for an equalizer, with attempts from Paiber and forward players, but Tarxien’s defensive line held firm.
