Roderick was born on August 24, 1981. Briffa is a product of the Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery. In 1998 Roderick made his debut in the Premier League with the Stripes.

In season 2001-2002 Roderick Briffa joined Pieta Hotspurs on loan. He returned back with the stripes in season 2002. He made a total of 105 appearances for the Stripes before joining Sliema Wanderers in summer 2007.

International midfielder Roderick Briffa joined Valletta F.C. in January 2009.

Roderick Briffa won the MFA footballer of the year in season 2010/11.

Roderick  Briffa was regarded as the outstanding candidate to claim the Footballer of the Yeart after playing a starring role in Valletta’s title success in season 2010-2011.

Despite his long-standing reputation as one of the leading lights of Maltese football, it has taken Briffa a while to underpin his undoubted talent with a high level of consistency.

In season 2010-2011, Roderick won no fewer than eight awards at the Gram Replay Gala Night, the awards were:
Best midfielder, Best player in the Premier League, Best local player, Player of the Year – In-Nazzjon Taghna, Player of the Year – The Malta Independent, Viewers choice awards, Top Star Player award and also formed part of The Best Premier League XI.
