Born on 13th May 1972 in Palermo, Italy Giovanni Tedesco started his coaching career with Lega Pro Seconda Divisione club Foligno in 2012. 
Tedesco, had served as coach of Floriana between April 2014 and June 2015, a short spell with Birkirkara between June and December 2015. On 25 January 2016, a few weeks after his departure from Birkirkara, Tedesco was announced as new head coach of his hometown club Palermo.
Tedesco returned to Malta and joined Floriana FC in June 2016.
In May 2018 Tedesco had joined Hamrun Spartans, leading the Spartans to fourth place – the best placing since season 1993/94. However he stepped down in May 2019 and joined Gzira United. Tedesco was sacked as coach of Gżira United in January 2020.Under his leadership, Gzira eliminated Croatian giants Hajduk Split but they were then eliminated by Ventspils of Lithuania.
Giovanni Tedesco joined Valletta Football club in February 2020, he signed a contract with the Club till the end of the season.
