Scunthorpe United are trying to strike a deal to bring Kyrain Nwoko to the club.

The Iron have been tracking the Valletta attacker since October and the 21-year-old has travelled to England and is currently on trial with the Iron.

He played in a behind closed doors friendly against a Select XI on Tuesday and netted during a 5-0 win for the Iron.

The Times of Malta reported that Nwoko has been offered a contract by Scunthorpe but the sides could not agree on a transfer fee.

Reports in Malta suggest that the Iron wanted Nwoko on a free transfer but Valletta are holding out for a fee.

However, Stuart McCall said that the two clubs could not agree on terms but they could revisit the deal in the summer.
