FA Trophy – Valletta 2 Zejtun C 0

Valletta vs Zejtun

Valletta secured a place in the semi-finals of the FA Trophy thanks a 2-0 win over Division One Żejtun Corinthians.

The Citizens, who had eliminated Senglea Athletic and Pieta Hotspurs in the previous rounds, therefore stay on track in their bid to lift the trophy next May.

Valletta managed to take the lead on the 25th minute when following a good run on the right, Michael Mifsud served Matteo Piciollo who was anticipated by a defender, the ball reached Kyrian Nwoko whose low shot from outside the area beat Żejtun goalkeeper Dunstan Zarb.

The Citizens doubled the score on the 70th minute when off a Miguel Angel Alba freekick from the left, Steve Borg headed home from close range.

This goal killed any hopes of Żejtun notching the equaliser and forcing extra-time as the Citizens took victory home with minimal effort.
