Championship Pool Day 25: Valletta vs Birkirkara


Valletta face rivals Birkirkara tomorrow in a delicate encounter from the Championship pool. The Citizens have not beaten the Stripes in three matches this season but managed to eliminate the Stripes from the U*Bet FA Trophy during the semi finals.

Valletta are coming from a series of positive results, currently second with 33 points. Birkirkara are third with 25 points winning another three points on their last encounter against Floriana 3-1.

Luke Dimech and Roderick Briffa return for tomorrow’s match after serving a one match suspension. Goalkeeper Andrew Hogg also returns within the City’s squad after recovering from a knee injury which he suffered during the match against Hibernians.
Alan Tabone is missing for the Stripes, Tabone is serving a one match suspension.

Valletta and Birkirkara met each other three times during this season, the two teams shared the spoils in the first two matches 2-2 and 1-1 and during the last match played last March Birkirkara inflicted the first defeat on Valletta 1-3.
